Hello!

All is going well.

We are working hard on our Memoir unit. I think we will need more time than I alloted for the unit. We are investigating several memoir examples and studying the craft the author used to make the memoir interesting to us. We are learning how to write expressively and use adjectives and good description to make our readers feel strong emotion that is usually found in memoirs!

Math:

Students will be taking their test on adding and subtracting on Monday. The next unit will be first multiplication and then division. The multiplication will be a nice review of the concept of multiplication. The division will be an introduction to the concept.

We will be returning to these concepts several times, each time the concept will be deeper and more challenging.

Keep working on the math facts! Students are supposed to sign up in class to let me know when they are ready to test on the homework facts. If they aren't signing up to test, they aren't testing! I have lots of help to administer the tests and check them off.

If they want more challenging facts... they need to test!

Please remember that they can use the flash cards or they can go to any of the websites bookmarked on this blog or any others that you have found that work!

If you have a great site that practices facts that isn't listed, please email me so I can add it here!

Everyday Edits:

Several of you have requested every day edits to practice at home. We do an everyday edits every day in class and correct it each day together. Students are asked to look for spelling, grammar, punctuation, capitalization errors. When I take a grade (about every 5-8 days) each error missed is 5 points off of 100.

Here is the link for the everyday edits. If you do the March-June practices, you won't be doing the same ones we are doing in class. There is also an additional link on the left called Animal A to Z edits that will give more stories to edit.

Progress Reports:

Remember that progress reports need to be returned the next day signed. You can also email me at susan.laduke@canyonsdistrict.org to let me know that you have seen it. I want to be sure that we stay on top of their grades.

Thanks for all you do!
